Ignacio Sánchez Galán became Executive Chairman of IBERDROLA in April 2006, following five years as Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of the company. He came to the company in 2001 with a strong business background. In his six years as top executive at IBERDROLA, he has taken the company into a new era of corporate development and given it a leadership role in the Spanish energy sector with new strategic objectives including a strong focus on renewables. In addition to a diploma in industrial engineering at the ICAI, Mr. Sánchez Galán has a diploma in Business Administration from the ICADE (a business institute of the Comillas University in Madrid) and another in Business Administration and Foreign Trade from the Industrial Management School (EOI) in Madrid.
