| Bayer operates in three subgroups, HealthCare, Crop Science and Material Science, aligned to their mission statement “Science For A Better Life”. The company also works towards ways of improving the greenhouse gas balance by developing products that help reduce energy consumption, by employing production technologies that use energy more efficiently and by exploring the use of renewable raw materials (biomass). |

| Mr. Wenning is Chairman of the Bayer AG Board of Management since April 2002.
He joined the company in 1966 as a commercial trainee and held a number of positions with Bayer in Germany, Peru and Spain. Mr. Wenning was appointed to the Board of Management as Chief Financial Officer in February 1997. Since September 2005 he has also been President of the German Chemical Industry Association.
