| BC Hydro is one of North America's leading providers of clean, renewable energy, and the largest electric utility in British Columbia, serving approximately 95 per cent of the province's population and 1.7 million customers.
BC Hydro's purpose is to provide reliable power, at low cost, for generations.
As a provincial Crown corporation, BC Hydro reports to the Minister of Energy and Mines, and is regulated by the British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC).
BC Hydro's various facilities generate between 43,000 and 54,000 gigawatt hours of electricity annually, depending on prevailing water levels.
Electricity is delivered through a network of 18,336 kilometres of transmission lines and 55,705 kilometres of distribution lines.
Power Smart conservation programs continued to deliver cost effective energy, producing cumulative annual incremental energy savings of 2,518 GWh.
For Fiscal 2007, net income was $407 million, which resulted in a return on equity of 13.44 per cent.
On March 31, 2007, BC Hydro and its subsidiaries had 4,546 employees.

| President & Chief Executive Officer
Bob Elton joined Powerex, a subsidiary company of BC Hydro, in December 2001 as Chief Financial Officer. He was appointed to Executive Vice-President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of BC Hydro in March 2002 and was subsequently appointed President and Chief Executive Officer on November 10, 2003.
Bob received his Master of Arts from Cambridge University, England. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1976 and is a Chartered Business Valuator as well as a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia. He was with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP for over 20 years and was made a partner in 1987. From 1996 to 2001, he was Chief Financial Officer of Eldorado Gold Corporation.
