Angela Merkel praises 3C initiative

German chancellor Angela Merkel mentioned the recently launched "3C" business leaders' initiative to combat climate change as an outstanding example of how business takes responsibility for tackling the climate quest.

In her opening address to the World Economic Forum in Davos she said: "Politics alone cannot stop climate change. (...) I am pleased to see that there is momentum from the business community, for example the so-called 3C initiative on global climate protection by Vattenfall's CEO Lars Josefsson, and I note with pleasure that this initiative has gained plenty of support. It would be a good signal from here and elsewhere if many companies - preferably all companies - joined."
